What I used: I used a Genius Mousepen Tablet, 8x6, and GIMP 2.6.6
How long it took: 2 days, one and off

Pay really close attention to lighting. Notice how light seems to be shining off of the wolf, but there doesn't seem to be any light source in the image?
There's a few different things you can do with this. One is to darken the wolf, but that might make the image a little too dark. A good option is to play with the brightness/contrast of the background to match the lightning.
My suggestion, though, would be instead of creating a lightsource, use the one you have. By that, I mean that in the picture now, the wolf appears to be the only light source, just because of the lighting differences. So make the grass around the wolf a little lighter and stuff like that.
I don't know if that made any sense at all. Still, I LOVE the smudging on the dog and the grass around his head. He definitely seems to belong, aside from the lighting thing.
